Say Goodbye to Ghost Pedaling on Your Mokwheel Basalt, Basalt ST, Scoria
Introduction
- The video is about fixing the ghost pedaling issue on a Mokwheel Basalt, Basalt ST, or Scoria bike.
- The problem is experienced when the bike reaches 18 miles per hour.
“Today I’m going to show you how to fix that problem for under 50 bucks.”
Upgrading the front chain ring
- The Basalt and Scoria bikes come with a 44-tooth front chain ring.
- The speaker purchased a 48-tooth chain ring and chain ring guard from Amazon.
- To make the upgrade, the speaker removed four bolts, took off the old chain ring guard, and replaced it with the new 48-tooth chain ring and chain ring guard.
“Anybody can do this. You don’t have to get a new chain, you can use the stock chain that comes with the bike.”
Testing the upgraded bike
- In pedal assist number three, the bike can reach 18 miles per hour without ghost pedaling.
- With the 48-tooth front chain ring on gear 7, and in pedal assist number five, the bike can easily cruise at 25 to 26 miles per hour without ghost pedaling.
- Pedaling feels right and makes cruising at faster speeds much easier.
“It’s probably one of the best upgrades I have made to this bike.”
