Giant Trance X E+3: First Ride

Giant Trance X E+3: First Ride

I start my MTB journey with my new Giant Trance X E+3. I hit 2 different mtb trails on my first day. I also get that first accident out of the way.

Video Summary
  • The video begins with the host mentioning that he had been waiting for good weather to take the Giant Trance X E+3 out for a ride.
  • He mentions that the Trance X E+3 is Giant’s latest release for 2023 and that he chose this bike to learn mountain biking.
  • The host explains that the trail he will be riding is located at Red Mill County Park in Michigan City, Indiana.

“This is Giant’s latest release for 2023, and I chose this bike to learn mountain biking.”

Riding the Intermediate Trail

  • The host mentions that the trail has three different levels: beginner, intermediate, and expert. He decides to start with the intermediate level since he is still learning how to ride the bike.
  • He remarks that he is not yet familiar with the bike and hopes to become better at riding through a series of trail rides.
  • The host comments on the quietness of the bike and its automatic power level, which adjusts the pressure based on the rider’s torque.

“I’m a beginner, so I’ll start with the intermediate trail and work my way up as I get more comfortable with the bike.”

Riding the Trail and Experiencing the Suspension

  • The host expresses his excitement about riding the trail and mentions that this is his first time riding any bike on a trail.
  • He compliments the suspension of the bike, specifically mentioning the RockShox front forks and middle shock.

“This is my first Trail doing this, and oh, this suspension is amazing!”

Reflecting on the Ride and Future Mountain Biking Plans

  • The host shares his overall positive experience with the Trance X E+3 and mentions his plan to further improve his mountain biking skills by taking an intro to mountain biking class through REI.
  • He highlights the need for learning certain techniques like bunny hopping and acknowledges that there is still a lot to learn.
  • The host mentions his intention to continue riding different trails and becoming more proficient with the bike.

“This bike has been great, and I’ve realized there’s a lot to learn. I’m excited to improve and continue exploring different trails.”

Knee pads and helmet

  • Knee pads came in handy during the ride.
  • The helmet took a beating and was looking rough.

“These knee pads came in handy knee pads.”

Difficult trail and adventure

  • The trail was more difficult than expected.
  • Unable to go the easier way, so opted for the more difficult route.
  • Part of the adventure was dealing with the challenging trail.

“Oh, that’s part of the adventure, right? All right, let’s get back on the trail.”

Roots and trees

  • Nearly crashed into some roots on the trail.
  • There were many tree obstacles on the path.
  • A tree magnet, almost hitting another tree.

“I did was picture me once I saw those roots just picture me eating another tree.”

Climbing and signs

  • Had to climb uphill during the ride.
  • Almost hit a tree while climbing.
  • The path became unfamiliar.
  • Looked for signs indicating the most difficult trail.

“Let’s see if we get some signs here. That’s most difficult.”

Uphill challenges

  • The ride became even more difficult.
  • Admitted to having no common sense for choosing the challenging route.
  • Encountered obstacles but managed to overcome them.

“Let’s see what they mean by most difficult. Oh, we’ll get over this.”

Jumping and smooth ride

  • Not feeling ready for jumps on the trail.
  • Found the bike to be smooth and enjoyable to ride.

“I’m so not ready for jumps. Man, this bike is smooth.”

Navigating unfamiliar terrain

  • None of the terrain looked familiar.
  • Previous bikes were unable to handle similar hills.
  • Expressed astonishment at the terrain.

“None of this looks familiar, but I didn’t have a bike that could make it up those Hills.”

Wide handlebars and positive experience

  • Adjusting to the wide handlebars of the bike.
  • Despite the challenge, had a fun and positive experience with the new Giant Trance X E+3.

“I’m gonna have so much fun with this bike if it doesn’t kill me with these wide handlebars.”
