Aventon Aventure: How to fix your Rear Rack
Aventon Aventure: How to fix your Rear Rack
Let me show you how to fix the rear rack on your Aventon Aventure.
Checking for the issue
- If you have an Aventon bike with a rear rack, there may be an issue with it.
- The presenter will demonstrate how to check if the rack is securely attached.
“Tell you what, if you have one of these bikes and you have the rear rack, there’s an issue with it and I’m gonna show you how to check to see if yours has that issue.”
Testing the bolt tightness
- To check the bolt tightness, you need to release the front part of the rack by unscrewing it from the frame.
- Then, grab the rack and pull on it to see if it comes off easily.
- I demonstrate the test.
“I want you to release the front part of your rack, I just want you to unscrew it from the frame, and then if you can grab a hold of this piece and just pull on it, and there it is, it came right out.”
Fixing the issue
- If the rack comes off easily, it needs to be fixed.
- First, loosen the bolt, slides the rack back in place, and tightens the bolt again.
- Then, add lock and flat washers to prevent the nut from loosening.
“So, I’m going to show you how to fix this. Let’s loosen this bolt back up, and then slide this back in and reconnect it the way it was before we did the test.” “Apply the flat washer first so that you’re not torquing it all the way down to the very end, and then put this lock washer on here to keep this nut from loosening up as it bounces around.”
Revisiting the test
- After fixing the rack, I demonstrate the test again.
- The rack does not come off easily, indicating it is securely fixed.
“And it’s not going anywhere, so that is a huge difference to what it was before. You’ll see a huge difference and it will help you know that your rack is good to go.”
Conclusion
- I suggest trying this fix for Aventon bikes like the Adventure, Level, or Pace.
“Super easy, super cheap, super quick hack for your bike rack. If you have an Aventon, whether it be the Adventure, Level, or Pace, it should work on yours as well. Give it a shot and see if that fixes it.”
