Aventon Aventure: 53 Mile Ride through Chicago

In this video, I talk about the things I like and do not like about the Aventon Aventure. After 500 miles of riding, I share with you my thoughts.

Opening

  • Chris plans to go on a long bike ride on Father’s Day.
  • I join Chris for the ride.

“Chris is like I’m gonna go for a long bike ride today and I’m like bro come by and get me.”

Preparing for the ride

  • Scott straps an extra battery to his bike.
  • He explains that his bike is electric.
  • The battery is strapped using a bungee cord to prevent it from moving.

“Today, I have bungee strapped my extra battery just in case because I tell you what, a few minutes ago, I tried peddling this heavy without it, and that’s a no bueno.”

First stumbling block

  • The battery becomes unhooked from Scott’s bike rack.
  • He does not have the tools to fix it.
  • They use a bungee cord connected to the frame to keep the battery from moving.

“We have ran into our first stumbling block of the day. Away from this battery has unhooked from my rack. I’m not sure I actually have the tools to fix that.”

Adventure continues

  • They ride along the lake and stop to enjoy the view.
  • Instead of buying an expensive lunch, they decide to have a picnic.

“A lot of people out enjoying the lake today, and we have stopped for a picnic. We’re gonna do that as opposed to spending a hundred dollars on lunch around here.”

Bike repair

  • Chris needs to replace his seat post clamp.
  • They start to work on the repairs.

“This is our first time riding together with Chris and I, and we have ran into snags. First, we had the issue with my bike rack on the rear, and now we’re working on his seat.”

Riding toward the Planetarium

  • They are close to the planetarium.
  • Scott has ridden 29 miles, while Chris has ridden 37.
  • They plan to continue the ride and have fun.

“We are super close to the planetarium, so we’re gonna hit that. We’re at 29 miles, but he rode eight miles before he even made it to me, so he’s at like 37.”

Changing the battery

  • Scott needs to change his battery.
  • He swaps it out successfully and continues the ride.

“It is time to change the battery. I got a full battery, and those are fireworks. It is Chicago, so you never know.”

Conclusion

  • Scott mentions that this was the farthest he has ever ridden a bike.
  • He implies that they won’t be taking any long trips anytime soon.

“I can tell you for sure this is the farthest I’ve ever ridden a bike, period. Um, and testing this bad boy out. It was a good time. I think I’m probably not gonna be taking any long trips in a while.”
